Girls District Preview
Top 10 Teams (# of rated) – [District]
1. South Sioux City (6) – [A-1]
2. Westside (4) – [A-3]
3. Grand Island (3) – [A-1]
4. Norfolk (4) – [A-4]
5. Papillion-LaVista (4) – [A-2]
6. Yutan (3) – [A-2]
7. Chadron (3) – [A-4]
8. Crofton-Bloomfield (3) – [A-2]
9. Scribner-Snyder (2) – [A-2]
10. Pierce (2) – [A-1]
Contenders: Battle Creek (2) – [A-2], Amherst (2) – [A-3], Conestoga (2) – [A-1], Minden (2) – [A-4],
Omaha North (3) – [A-2], Stanton (2) – [A-1], McCook (2) – [A-2]
I think the A-1 district will limit some point scorers getting through to state for big teams like South Sioux City, Grand Island, and Pierce. SSC should still have enough big guns to hold off the field to repeat as champions. Westside has 4 legitimate medal contenders, and 80 points should secure runner-up. So, the race to second is going to be fantastic this year. Last year only 12.5 points separated 2-5, and 10 points separated 8-15, so I can see that happening again. Very exciting, but time for prognostication is over. Time for wrestling out the big matches is upon us. Good luck to all!
100
1. Payton Thiele – Louisville, 10 (A-1)
2. Mileena Notaro – Lincoln East, 10 (A-3)
3. Jocelyn Prado – Johnson County Central, 10 (A-3)
4. Gloria Flores – South Sioux City, 12 (A-1)
5. Aubree Stutzman – Sandhills Valley, 10 (A-4)
6. Nattlie Hull – Scribner-Snyder, 10 (A-2)
Contenders: Siefken-LSW (A-3), McKibbin-Bayard (A-4), Schademan-Fillmore Central (A-3), Bartlett- Beatrice (A-1), Turpitt-Fremont (A-1), Beed-Aurora (A-1)
Thiele and Notaro remain unbeaten. So, with Thiele having a big win over Prado, she will claim the top spot with Notaro moving up one spot, as well. Stutzman looked great on her way to winning Amherst. The rest of the field is solid, nobody is safe.
105
1. Afftynn Stuesse – Battle Creek, 12 (A-2)
2. Tiearra Pollard – Norfolk, 10 (A-4)
3. Carson McBride – Amherst, 9 (A-3)
4. Madelynn Bohnet – South Sioux City, 9 (A-1)
5. Makenzie Martin – Millard North, 9 (A-1)
6. Sinai Sanchez – Schuyler, 10 (A-3)
Contenders: Gates-GISH (A-1), Hull-Scribner-Snyder (A-2), Hofaker-Minden (A-4), Blanco-Fremont (A-1), Frihauf-Seward (A-1), Reyes-JCC (A-3), Wood-Boone Central (A-2)
Stuesse remains unbeaten and is the clear cut #1 choice at 105. Pollard has a win over Martin. There sure is a tough group of freshmen at this weight class. McBride had a big win in the finals at Amherst over Gates. Sanchez does have a win over McBride. Reyes has a win over Bohnet. Another weight class almost nobody is safe.
110
1. Maycee Peacher – Bennington, 10 (A-3)
2. Taylee Williamson – Chadron, 10 (A-4)
3. Ella Reeves – Battle Creek, 10 (A-2)
4. Fransisca Walsh – Lexington, 12 (A-4)
5. Leynn Luna – Boone Central, 9 (A-2)

Contenders: Cottam-Sidney (A-4), Salgado-Schuyler (A-3), Morales-GISH (A-1), Raue-B-R (A-2), Chambers-Palmyra (A-3), Bisbee-Aurora (A-1)
No changes here. Pretty set weight class.
115
1. Sophia Schultz – Raymond Central, 11 (A-1)
2. Kylee Plowman – Conestoga, 10 (A-1)
3. Morgan Maschmann – Beatrice, 10 (A-1)
4. Jolyn Pozehl – Ainsworth, 10 (A-4)
5. Talia Astorino – Papillion LaVista, (A-2)
6. Chelsey Robinson – Omaha North, (A-2)
Contenders: Collison-Pierce (A-1), Darling-Wahoo (A-4), Cock-McCook (A-2), Medina-Gering (A-4), Sowles-Minden, Anderson-Columbus (A-2)
Shultz and Plowman are now split on the year, but Plowman should still see the #1 seed at district based off last year’s state runner-up performance. Maschmann will have something to say about this weight class as well. A-1 is loaded here! Anderson of Columbus had a win over Astorino by injury default at Norfolk. Hopefully, she will be alright for districts because A-2 is solid as well. Pozehl should represent A-4 and we will see some fresh names at state from the A-3 district at this weight class.
120
1. Aubrie Pehrson – Yutan, 10 (A-2)
2. Lacy Lemburg – Lakeview, 10 (A-3)
3. Kaylee Bedsole – Fremont, 9 (A-1)
4. September Thein – Madison, 12 (A-2)
5. Patricia Arroyo – Red Cloud-Blue Hill, 11 (A-2)
6. Corah Linnaus – Stanton, 11 (A-1)
Contenders: Dolan-Skutt (A-1), Taylor-Papio (A-2), McKenzie-Sidney (A-4), Skrdla-Pierce (A-1), Gress-HPC (A-1), Robbins-Bridgeport (A-4)
No changes here. This is a deep weight class though. We will see some surprises at 120.
125
1. Alexis Pehrson – Yutan, 10 (A-2)
2. Madisen Petersen – Crofton, 12 (A-2)
3. Jaycee Bruns – Wayne, 12 (A-1)
4. Maggie Painter – Pierce, 11 (A-1)
5. Ambie Custard – McCook, 10 (A-2)
6. Kaylinn Lyons – Omaha Westview, 9 (A-1)
Contenders: McGillivray-Stanton (A-1), Kuester-West Point (A-2), Williamson-Crete (A-3), Osterbuhr-Minden (A-4)
Pehrson claims the top spot again with the departure of Rosseter. The rest stay the same just up one spot. Lyons claims the #6 spot based on head-to-head wins over Kuester and McGillivray. She finished runner-up to Pehrson at Weeping Water. Custard won the Amherst Invite.
130
1. Regan Rosseter – Westside, 11 (A-3)
2. Kayden Sipp – Adams Central, 9 (A-3)
3. Ann Marie Meiman – Omaha North, 11 (A-2)
4. Sydnie Brown – Overton, 10 (A-4)
5. Rylan Hansen – Stanton, 9 (A-1)
6. Jordyn Campbell – Yutan, 9 (A-2)
Contenders: Bengtson-Aurora (A-1), Jensen-Millard South (A-1), Skrdla-Pierce (A-1), Williams-GI (A-1), Sutton-WW (A-1), Klein-Centura (A-2)
Rosseter is officially wrestling 130 for districts. Based on head-to-head results, this weight class seems really close from top to bottom. Sipp gave Rosseter a close match at the Manstedt Invite to suffer her only loss on the year. Meiman’s only loss this season was early to Sipp, but she had two close wins over Jensen and Sutton down the stretch. Brown’s only loss was also to Sipp. Hansen had a big win over Campbell to split the series. A-1 seems like it will be a barnburner.
135
1. Zoey Barber – Westside, 10 (A-3)
2. Addeline Graser – Papillion-LaVista, 9 (A-2)
3. Madison Davis – West Holt, 11 (A-4)
4. Dylen Ritchey – Ralston, 11 (A-3)
5. Selena Zamora – South Sioux City, 11 (A-1)
6. Lesley Rodriguez – Norfolk, 10 (A-4)
Contenders: Rasmussen-Chadron (A-4), Stadt-Scribner-Snyder (A-2), Miller-Pierce (A-1), Butterfield-Stanton (A-1), Canseco-Gering (A-4), Davis-PLVS (A-1)
Barber remains unbeaten against NE competition and is the heavy favorite. She owns three wins against Graser and Davis. Graser is the only one to wrestler her within a few points in a match. Ritchey is also unbeaten but hasn’t wrestled quite as tough a schedule. Her best win is 2-0 win over Zamora at Platteview. Davis has only lost to Barber and beat Zamora 7-0 at Battle Creek. The word is Rodriguez will be wrestling 135 at districts and she is unbeaten but hasn’t wrestled since December, so it will be interesting how she stacks up here. This is a tough weight class for sure.
140
1. Reagen Gallaway – Amherst, 12 (A-3)
2. Miah Kenny – GINW, 11 (A-4)
3. Kristin Schellenberg – Scribner-Snyder, 11 (A-2)
4. Jenna Second – Papillion-LaVista, 11 (A-2)
5. Avani Wilke – Winnebago, 11 (A-1)
6. Markie Zeleny – Oakland-Craig, 12 (A-2)
Contenders: Kuehler-Pierce (A-1), Finecy-Lakeview (A-3), Nelson-Crete (A-3), Vargas-Millard South (A-1), Lindo-Marente-GISH (A-1), Cuevas-Norfolk (A-4)
Gallaway is the clear-cut favorite at this weight owning wins against Kenny and Schellenberg. Kenny has a win over Schellenberg. Second took a loss to Cuevas late in the year. Wilke, Zeleny, and Kuehler have a head-to-head triangle with each other. Nelson has split with Finecy and Vargas. Vargas has beaten Lindo-Marente head-to-head. This is a wide-open weight class after the top three.
145
1. Kenli Boeselager – Chadron, 11 (A-4)
2. Emma Stice – Papillion LaVista, 11 (A-2)
3. Rylie Ahrens – Crofton-Bloomfield, 10 (A-2)
4. Anyia Roberts – Grand Island, 10 (A-1)
5. Amelia Jacobsen – Minden, 12 (A-4)
6. Maggie Fiene – Conestoga, 9 (A-1)
Contenders: Prochaska-Marian (A-2), Cotton-York (A-3), Wemhoff-Schuyler (A-3), Ceballos-JCC (A-3), Oliverez-SSC (A-1), Jones-Louisville (A-1)
No changes in the top five. Roberts won late over Jacobsen in their match-up at Amherst. Fiene had big wins over Prochaska and Ceballos to win the Louisville Invite. We should have good finals in all four districts at this weight.
155
1. Yohaly Quinones – South Sioux City, 12 (A-1)
2. Jayda Parker – Bellevue East, 12 (A-1)
3. Piper Zatechka – Westside, 10 (A-3)
4. Paola Vergara – O’Neill, 11 (A-3)
5. Angie Rose – Omaha Central, 11 (A-2)
6. La’Nie Green – Omaha North, 11 (A-2)
Contenders: Sutton-Lexington (A-4), Mader-GINW (A-4), Duran-Sandhills Valley (A-4), Hampton-Millard South (A-1), Velasquez-Schuyler (A-3), Grow-Papio South (A-1),
No changes at this weight class. Quinones and Parker are the top two at this weight class and coming from the same district they will be on opposite sides at state. Zatechka hasn’t lost since Metros. Vergara split with Janssen down the stretch. The rest of the field are all capable of finding the medal stand in two weeks.
170
1. Kaylee Ricketts – Wahoo, 11 (A-4)
2. Makayla Pate – McCook, 11 (A-2)
3. Madelynne Jakubowski – O’Neill, 12 (A-3)
4. Jocelyn Ambriz – Ansley-Litchfield, 12 (A-4)
5. Annabelle Poppe – Crofton, 10 (A-2)
6. Macy Barber – Westside, 9 (A-3)
Contenders: Wiltgen-Millard South (A-1), Albers-York (A-3), Jones-Louisville (A-1), Hixon-GISH (A-1) Victoria-Azcna-Omaha South (A-3), Rueda-Crete (A-3)
Ricketts and Pate are both undefeated on the season. Poppe finally got a win over Jakubowski on their last meeting. Ambriz won Amherst over Hixon. Wiltgen lost to Barber at Weeping Water. This is an interesting weight class.
190
1. Makena Schramm – Fairbury, 12 (A-3)
2. Claire Paasch – West Point-Beemer, 12 (A-2)
3. Martha Hinneh – Marian, 11 (A-2)
4. Ali Edwards – Grand Island, 10 (A-1)
5. Tawny Irvin – Logan View, 12 (A-2)
6. Jackie Zamora – South Sioux City, 12 (A-1)
Contenders: Furgison-Lexington (A-4), Carney-Norfolk Catholic (A-2), Smidt-Elgin/Pope John (A-2), Janovich-Elkhorn (A-1), Siebrass-Millard North (A-1), Janecek-Skutt (A-1)
Makena Schramm remains unbeaten and now owns three wins over Paasch and two over Hinneh, the only losses for them. The rest of the field is very close. Anyone of them is capable of medaling down at state. Will be a fun bracket to see who finds their way on top.
235
1. Melissa De La Torre – South Sioux City, 12 (A-1)
2. Brythany Espino – Grand Island, 9 (A-1)
3. Darian Earth – Winnebago, 11 (A-1)
4. Savannah Koch – Minden, 12 (A-4)
5. Ashanti Dillard – Norfolk, 12 (A-4)
6. Autumn Hoppe – West Holt, 12 (A-4)
Contenders: Guerrero-Fremont (A-1), Sistek-Seward (A-1), Krebs-Summerland (A-2), Kennel-Norfolk Catholic (A-2), Ramirez-Crete (A-3), Geiger-Westside (A-3), Herron-Westview (A-1)
A-1 and A-4 seem to be the districts with the lion’s share of top 235 girls. Hoppe of West Holt won the Weeping Water Invite with big wins over Guerrero and gave Herron her only loss of the year. I’m not sure if Herron can get out of the A-1 district, but if she does, she will make some noise at state. These girls are familiar with each other, and anything can happen at this weight. Going to be fun.
