Nebraska Scholastic Wrestling Coaches Association
Class C Rankings 1/13/20
Team Rankings – Tournament
1 Central City
2 David City
3 Aquinas Catholic
4 Logan View
5 Cross County-Osceola
6 O’Neill
7 Milford
8 Raymond Central
9 Amherst
10 Arlington
The top 3 shuffled around a little again, with some weight changes changing
projected points for each team. I have all three of these squads within 8 points of
each other at this point in the season. Logan View is a beneficiary of the weight
changes also, moving back up to #4. Cross County-Osceola holds in the top five,
but their projected points took a hit in this set of ratings. O’Neill holds steady,
moving up one spot with three potential finalists and a couple other guys who
could win some matches in Omaha. Milford drops a couple spots. They are an
impressive team, but it just looks tough for them to score a ton of points in
Omaha. I think they are a top-five team, but having a hard time justifying it based
on these ratings. After the top seven, there are a slew of teams you could argue
for. I have Raymond Central, Amherst, and Arlington rounding out the top ten
this week. Amherst, Syracuse, Wilber-Clatonia, Bishop Neumann, Valentine,
Filmore Central, and Boone Central can all make valid arguments for one of those
spots also!
Dual Rankings
1 Aquinas
2 David City
3 Central City
4 Milford
5 Boone Central
6 Logan View
7 Raymond Central
8 O’Neill
9 Amherst
10 Conestoga
This week’s ratings provide a clearer picture of where guys will be as we enter the
stretch run.
106
1.) Drew Garfield, Central City 11
2.) John Alden, O’Neill 9
3.) Pedro Hernandez, Wilber-Clatonia 10
4.) Robbie Fischer, Crofton-Bloomfield 9
5.) Travis Meyer, Fillmore Central 10
6.) Trevin Edwards, Loomis-Bertrand 12
Well, it’s now clear that Dane is in fact at Gering. Alden notched a big win
over him this weekend. Edwards has made his appearance at 106,
notching a couple close victories over quality opponents this weekend.
Kohout (Milford) drops out because of Edwards moving down. He did drop
a close decision to Hernandez, so he’s not far off here.
113
1.) Ely Olberding, Fort Calhoun 10
2.) Cole Kunz, Central City 11
3.) Jose Escandon, Gibbon 11
4.) Jacob McGee, Logan View 10
5.) Zach Bongers, David City 11
6.) Trenton Arlt, Oakland-Craig 12
Some significant changes here with Olberding back at the top. McGee had
been #1, but falls with a couple losses to Kunz. Wood (Boone Central) and
Trowbridge (Fillmore Central) are next in line here, with Kavan (Aquinas)
not far off. Still waiting for Grooms (Valentine) to make his appearance
after his transfer from Mullen.
120
1.) Aaron Ohnoutka, Bishop Neumann 10
2.) Riley Waddington, Wood River 10
3.) Gavin Dozler, Boone Central 11
4.) Lance Olberding, Fort Calhoun 10
5.) Dru Mueller, Logan View 12
6.) Tristan Burbach, Central City 9
Major additions to this weight class as we all suspected. Waddington and
Dozler both make the drop from 126. Baker (St. Paul) drops out after a 3-0
loss to Burbach. Burbach and Mueller have split recent matches. Schindler
(David City), Ruffner (Conestoga), and Kavan (Aquinas) are the next in line,
with Johnson (Twin River) and Goebel (Syracuse) also in the hunt here.
126
1.) Chris Williams, Valentine 12
2.) Zach Zitek, Aquinas Catholic 12
3.) Konnor Schluckebier, Milford 12
4.) Alex Schademann, Filmore Central 10
5.) Mitch Albrecht, Raymond Central 12
6.) Barret Brandt, Syracuse 10
Another weight class with some movement as a couple tough kids dropped
to 120. Chini (Conestoga) is in the mix here. He was majored by
Schluckebier over the weekend, though. Anderson (Ponca) started the year
at 126, but has since been competing at 132. Bruns (Hershey) also in the
mix at this weight class.
132
1.) Quentyn Frank, Amherst 11
2.) Logan Bryce, Raymond Central 11
3.) Ty Rainforth, O’Neill 11
4.) Josh Spatz, David City 11
5.) Eli Vondra, Milford 11
6.) Cameron Williams, Conestoga 12
Nothing changed with the top three, although Bryce hasn’t competed yet
since break. Spatz joins the list with a convincing win over Vondra. Vondra has
some nice wins recently over Talton (Norfolk Catholic), Lautenschlager (Bishop
Neumann), Scott (Aquinas), and Williams. Payne (Centennial) is close here also.
138
1.) Dyson Kunz, Central City 12
2.) Hunter Vandenburg, Aquinas Catholic 11
3.) Tommy Lokken, Wilber-Clatonia 12
4.) Roberto Valdivia, Logan View 12
5.) Seth Fairbanks, Bishop Neumann 12
6.) Dylan Ancheta, Wood River 11
Kunz is still the man at this weight. Lokken moves up to #3 with some nice
wins and only one loss on the year. Valdivia makes a big cut down from
152 and enters at #4 after a close win over Fairbanks. Poppe (Crofton-
Bloomfield), Burt (Tekamah-Herman), Chapman (Milford), Lurz (Valentine)
and Kluthe (Ord) are the next bunch here.
145
1.) Hunter Gilmore, Arlington 12
2.) Christopher Nickolite, Aquinas Catholic 11
3.) Brady Thompson, O’Neill 11
4.) Hunter McNulty, Logan View 12
5.) Colby Homolka, Wilber-Clatonia 11
6.) Cal Janke, Archbishop Bergan 11
Nickolite has some nice wins recently and Thompson gave returning Class B
champ Rocheleua (Gering) all he wanted this weekend. McNulty has a win
over Homolka recently. Sounds like Olson (Valentine) is done for the year.
Battershaw (Battle Creek) has made it down from 152 and enters the mix.
Hinrichs (Fillmore Central) and Stauffer (Milford) are in the hunt here also.
152
1.) Cameron Graham, Cross County/Osceola 11
2.) Conner Kreikemeier, Raymond Central 11
3.) Trevor Widener, Bridgeport 12
4.) Ethan Mullaly, North Bend 12
5.) Tanner Schneiderheinz, Central City 12
6.) Christopher Feldner, Kearney Catholic 12
Graham shakes this weight up with his drop from 160. Harris (David
City) is right with any of these guys. This weight could be a big factor in the
team race with him and Schneiderheinz being really close. Calleroz
(Arcadia/Loup City) and Drueke (O’Neill) would be next in line after these
guys.
160
1.) Joe Hinrichs, Sutton 12
2.) Nolan Eller, Aquinas Catholic 12
3.) Garret Kluthe, Ord 12
4.) Gavin Zoucha, Malcom 11
5.) Bryce Reed, Cross County-Osceola 12
6.) Carter Springer, Milford 11
Menke (Bridgeport) is back in the lineup and is a contender here. Schafer
(Boone Central) drops from 170 and emerges as a contender here also.
We haven’t seen Green (Nebraska Christian) since opening weekend. Eller
had a convincing win over Springer and Zoucha pinned the former 170 lb.
Reed. Zoucha also beat contender Mendez (Norfolk Catholic), who also
lost to Springer this weekend.
170
1.) Josh Miller, Arlington 12
2.) Sam Moore, Central City 12
3.) Jaxson Jones, Twin River 12
4.) Tre Daro, David City 11
5.) Brayton Jarosik, South Central Unified 12
6.) Sam Vrana, Biship Neumann 12
Not much has changed here. Jarosik enters the ratings with a 6-4 win over
Vrana. Scdoris (Milford) drops out. Jessen (Yutan) and Gabriel (Ord) enter
as contenders. Kollars (Norfolk Catholic), Gonzalez (O’Neill), Pascoe
(Gordon-Rushville) and Warneke (Battle Creek) are other names to watch
here.
182
1.) Dylan Vodicka, David City 12
2.) Kelen Meyer, Ord 12
3.) Jesse Drahota, Ravenna 12
4.) Caden Egr, Yutan 12
5.) Michael Andel, Aquinas Catholic 11
6.) Richard Cleveland, Boone Central 11
Sounds like Brandt has left this weight for 195. Andel has been wrestling
well, with pins over Cleveland (former #6 at 195) and Vance (Milford).
Jones (Twin River) qualifies as a contender here also.
195
1.) Burton Brandt, Syracuse 12
2.) Logan Booth, Logan View 11
3.) Brandon Beeson, Tri County 12
4.) Aiden Worthey, HTRS 11
5.) Hunter Oborny, Milford 9
6.) Sawyer Kunc, Wilber-Clatonia 11
Booth has made the drop, and Brandt has bumped up. Beeson has two
close victories over Worthey this season. Kunc and Oborny have split
matches this season. Miller (Aquinas) and Abramson (Loomis-Bertrand) are
bumped out due to weight class changes. Weber (Boone Central) is right
with this crew also. Gallaway (Amherst) should also be considered a
contender.
220
1.) Kyle Sterup, Cross County-Osceola 12
2.) James Escamilla, David City 12
3.) Jazper Ames, Lutheran High NE 12
4.) Quran Cook, Yutan 10
5.) Nathan Coley, Mitchell 12
6.) Jared Janssen, Crofton-Bloomfield 11
Mundt (Nebraska Christian) and Johnson (Madison) may be coming down
from 285, but we haven’t seen that yet. Bogard (Amherst) and Scheer (St.
Paul) are also right there, along with Casey (Quad County NE) and
Meysenburg (Aquinas), whom Bogard has beaten. Cone (Logan View) may
also be coming down to this weight.
285
1.) Carl Mundt, Nebraska Christian 12
2.) Jake Ingwersen, David City 12
3.) Daven Whitley, BRLD 10
4.) Kolby Johnson, Madison 12
5.) Kale Nordmeyer, Malcolm 11
6.) Terrence Hayes, Cross County-Osceola 12
Hayes (Cross County-Osceola) loses 7-0 to Nordmeyer, moving Nordmeyer
ahead of others into the #5 slot. After the top 6 you have the likes of
Zlomke (Battle Creek), Cone (Logan View), Burr (Syracuse), Asche (Fillmore
Central) and Fehlhafer (Centennial). Waiting to see if Mundt, Johnson,
and/or Cone make the drop to 220.
