NSWCA Class B Ratings-12/20/24

NSWCA Class B Tournament Rankings

  1. Omaha Skutt
  2. Bennington
  3. Waverly
  4. Central City
  5. York
  6. Gering
  7. Scottsbluff
  8. Beatrice
  9. Cozad
  10. Wahoo

Skutt remains the top team in the state by a wide margin over the rest of the teams. Bennington comes in second with its depth. Waverly and Central City are almost neck and neck with Waverly getting the slight edge due to a little more depth and York is not too far behind. Gering is sitting comfortably at number six. Scottsbluff and Beatrice are about dead even with the slight edge given to Scottsbluff with a little more depth. Cozad and Wahoo wrap up the top 10 with teams like Lexington, Blair, and Plattsmouth just on the doorstep.

NSWCA Class B Dual Rankings

  1. Omaha Skutt
  2. Bennington
  3. Waverly
  4. York
  5. Gering
  6. Scottsbluff
  7. Central City
  8. Blair
  9. Cozad
  10. Plattsmouth

Not a lot of changes here from the preseason rankings but a little shuffling around. Skutt seems to be the clear favorite with Bennington, Waverly, and York battling it out for the second spot. This is tough to predict this early in the season and will not really take shape until a week or two into January as we get more dual results.

NSWCA Class B Individual Rankings

106

  1. Ace Schweitzer, Central City
  2. Anthony Shifflet, Scottsbluff
  3. Noah Boyer, Nebraska City
  4. Jayce Van Vleet, Wahoo
  5. Andy Mateo, Schuyler
  6. Charlie Fritsch, Elkhorn North

This weight is always a tough one to predict in the beginning with a lot of new kids. Schweitzer and Shifflet seem to be the clear top 2 with Boyer not too far behind. After that it seems wide open to a lot of kids.

113

  1. Frost Wallace, Gering
  2. Gavin Ourada, Omaha Skutt
  3. Merritt Olberding, Fort Calhoun
  4. Dalton Lovejoy, Central City
  5. Dominic Olson, Waverly
  6. Bryce Lawler, Gretna

Wallace starts the season #1 here because he is the returning medalist from this weight. Ourada does not have a state medal but was a state qualifier last year at 120 with a solid record. Olberding being a medalist at 106 last year earns him the 3 rd spot. One person to look out for is Olson as he is a freshman and did well at the Council Bluffs Classic.

120

  1. Cole Welte, Omaha Skutt
  2. Chris Gamino, Scottsbluff
  3. Greg Klucas, Waverly
  4. Talon Belding, Beatrice
  5. Josh Sheard, Omaha Gross
  6. Jack Glendy, Columbus Lakeview

This weight class seems to be a pretty deep weight with several state medalists. However, Welte seems to be the clear favorite and Gamino a clear second place.

126

  1. Ben Ziola, Omaha Skutt
  2. Cole Karlin, Beatrice
  3. Logan Svoboda, Aurora
  4. Jude Connelly, Gering
  5. Royce Klucas, Waverly
  6. Brody Schmitt, Ralston

Returning champ Ziola is the favorite here but Karlin had a solid season last year and looks to be the only one that may challenge Ziola.

132

  1. Daylen Naylor, Lexington
  2. Odin Anschutz, Plattsmouth
  3. Luke Farmen, Lincoln Christian
  4. Devin Nuttelman, York
  5. Aiden Watts, Seward
  6. Jakson McFarland, Columbus Lakeview

This seems to be another stacked weight class. Naylor and Anschutz got 3 rd at state last year. Farmen and Nuttelman were both state runners-up. Sometimes with the luck of the draw a 3 rd place finisher can be as good or better than a runner-up. These guys are all very close but seeing 3 out of the 4 wrestle last year I decided to start this way. Naylor already beat Anschutz in a close match, so he gets the nod for #1.

138

  1. Hudson Loges, Blair
  2. Gatlin Krepela, Omaha Skutt
  3. Brodee Scobee, Bennington
  4. Trev Greve, Waverly
  5. Colt Eimermann, York
  6. Drake Hasbrouck, Cozad

Loges returns after miss nearly all last season and comes in at #1. Krepela and Scobee look to be the two that will duke it out to see who gets Loges in the finals.

144

  1. Brayden Canoyer, Waverly
  2. Tristan Campbell, McCook
  3. Brayden Kreikemeier, Bennington
  4. Isaac Christo, Omaha Skutt
  5. Gage Grandel, Ralston
  6. Allen Diaz, Lexington

Returning champ Canoyer is the clear leader here. Campbell, Kreikemeier, and Christo all come from different weight classes so this will be an interesting 3-way battle. Grandel and Diaz are some young talented individuals to watch out for.

150

  1. Tyler Harrill, Omaha Skutt
  2. Aaron Wilson, Cozad
  3. Christopher Shannon, Schuyler
  4. Isaiah Murillo, Gering
  5. Caleb Jackson, Seward
  6. Emmitt Dirks, Seward

Another returning champ that is a clear favorite to repeat. Wilson, Shannon, and Murillo all had solid seasons last year.

157

  1. Kyler Lauridsen, Bennington
  2. Bryce Kunz, Central City
  3. Niko Rotella, Omaha Skutt
  4. Caden Smart, Wahoo
  5. Brenden Ging, Plattsmouth
  6. Kaleb Griffith, Mount Michael

3-time state champion Lauridsen looks to be a clear favorite to get his 4 th . Kunz looks to be the best out of the rest but all are solid wrestlers .

165

  1. Riley Johnson, Omaha Skutt
  2. Brock Malcom, Cozad
  3. Ty Bouaphakeo, Bennington
  4. Noah Bordovsky, Wahoo
  5. Konrad Kuzelka, Fairbury
  6. Anthony Cortijo, Ralston

This is a solid weight especially in the top 3. Johnson and Malcom are returning state champions and Bouaphakeo is a returning runner-up.

175

  1. Merrick Johnson, Beatrice
  2. Brooks Loosvelt, York
  3. Rece Knight, Gering
  4. Cesar Cano, Lexington
  5. Zech Roggasch, Sidney
  6. Logan Clark, Hastings

This weight class is wide open. Any one of the top 5 individuals can win this weight class with Johnson and Loosvelt having a slight edge over the rest of the pack.

190

  1. Joe Andreasen, Lincoln Pius X
  2. Clayton Lindley, Omaha Skutt
  3. Blaise Baughman, Blair
  4. Patrick McCartney, Sidney
  5. Dalton Rhoten, Bennington
  6. Caden Schadwinkel, Seward

This is another loaded weight class with top 6 individuals all returning state medalists. Andreasen getting the #1 spot as a returning champ. Lindley a medalist two years ago returns from an injury that caused him to miss all of last season.

215

  1. Cade Ziola, Omaha Skutt
  2. Colby Peters, Central City
  3. Rylan Schoenbeck, Norris
  4. Logan Rowell, Auburn
  5. Ty Thomsen, Bennington
  6. Max Leininger, Waverly

Ziola is the clear leader here and after that there is a big drop off but any one of those guys can get hot and make it to finals against Ziola.

285

  1. Keagyn Linden, York
  2. Owen Rowell, Auburn
  3. Carver Konzem, Ashland Greenwood
  4. Wes Vick, Plattsmouth
  5. Spencer Steinbeck, McCook
  6. Daylon Adams, Scottsbluff

The top 4 here are all very solid and any one of those can win this weight class. This could be an exciting weight class to watch.
