NSWCA Class B Tournament Rankings
1. Broken Bow
2. Hastings
3. Bennington
4. Beatrice
5. Blair
6. Skutt
7. Aurora
8. Waverly
9. Gering
10. Ogallala
Broken Bow has the most returning state points, state qualifiers, and state medalists out of all class B teams. Hard not to pick them #1.
Hastings with a solid state performance last few years then add a couple transfers in and you have a mix that can challenge for the state championship.
Bennington sits at #3 with some high top end points and needs some production out of a few younger guys to make a run at the state title.
Beatrice is similar to Bennington in that they have some high top end points. They also need some younger ones to set up to finish higher at state.
Blair is an interesting one. They had a few injuries last year and a few new freshmen that can make an impact with the team. It comes down to staying healthy, how the injured come back, and how much the young kids can help the team.
Skutt is back in the top 10 after a one year hiatus. They have some big top end points and some young kids coming in that can help them. I would not be surprised if they don’t climb higher is some of the freshman can produce some state points as they are capable of.
Aurora is very tough in the upper weights. If they get more production out of the lower and middle weights they are going to be very tough.
Waverly has a lot of depth and probably a better dual team. They have a couple young kids that if they can make the jump to the state medal stand the team can easily move up the rankings.
The returning champs, Gering, graduated a lot of firepower but still return some quality. A lot will depend on how the new kids filling in for the graduated studs do.
Ogallala has a potential couple state champions. This early in the season it is hard to tell where teams fall but if Ogallala gets more production out of the rest of the team they can climb in the rankings.
NSWCA Class B Dual Rankings
1. Broken Bow
2. Blair
3. Bennington
4. Hastings
5. Beatrice
6. Waverly
7. Gering
8. Skutt
9. Nebraska City
10. Boone Central
A repeat of the individual rankings. Broken Bow has the most returning state points, state qualifiers, and state medalists out of all class B teams. Team depth wins duals, hard not to pick them #1.
Blair is always a tough dual team. They have the depth again this year and will be tough.
Bennington is also always a tough dual team and bring a lot of depth. Bennington vs. Blair at the EMC Duals should be fun as always.
Hastings could easily finish higher that this because they are solid also. It is just tough to pick the top dual teams in class B this year because they are all so close.
I would not sleep on Beatrice either as a dual team. They are always solid. The Beatrice vs. Bennington dual just before Christmas will be a barn burner.
Waverly is another one of those very tough EMC dual teams. I can see them, Bennington, and Blair all battle it out for the EMC Dual Tournament Championship. Those 3 teams will make the price of admission to the EMC Duals worth it.
Gering with some solid individuals and well coached make a very good team.
Skutt’s mix of quality individuals and how the freshman can impact their team will tell how far they go up the rankings.
Nebraska City always puts a solid dual team on the mat. They look the same this year with a State Dual Tournament team contender.
Boone Central has 10 returning wrestlers for last years District team that have winning records. Team depth wins duals. That earns them the #10 ranking.
