Boys Class B Tournament Team Rankings
- Omaha Skutt
- Bennington
- York
- Waverly
- Central City
- Cozad
- Lexington
- Blair
- Beatrice
- Plattsmouth
Skutt stands alone at the top. The next 3 Bennington, York , and Waverly are all neck and neck. Whoever gets hot at the state tournament will bring home the runner up trophy. Central City and Cozad line up next with the power of their individuals. The next group of 4 are all very tight and can end up anywhere depending on their performance at state.
Boys Class B Dual Team Rankings
- Omaha Skutt
- Bennington
- York
- Waverly
- Central City
- Hastings
- Scottsbluff
- Plattsmouth
- Cozad
- Blair
The top 4 teams seem to be clear favorites to finish in the top 4, just a matter of where. Looking at recent results the top 4 seem to look this way. After that it is very wide open. Trying to look at NSAA wildcard points, head-to-head competition, common opponents, and strength of schedule, this was a challenge to figure out the rest of the top 10. The rankings are based mostly on gut feelings considering the criteria mentioned before. There are some wild things in the NSAA point standings for class B that really call for (class B at least) going to a district championship qualifier as is proposed in the NSAA legislative process right now.
Boys Class B Individual Rankings
106
- Ace Schweitzer, Central City
- Anthony Shifflet, Scottsbluff
- Noah Boyer, Nebraska City
- Ethan Beed, Aurora
- John White, McCook
- Lane Welchert, Bennington
The last couple of weeks sorted things out here. The top 3 remain the same but 4-7 wrestled Welchert to sort this out.
113
- Gavin Ourada, Omaha Skutt
- Dominic Olson, Waverly
- Coy Childers, Alliance
- Frost Wallace, Gering
- Oscar Brown, Scottsbluff
- Kade Gieck, York
The top 4 remain the same. Brown comes in at #5 with his performance at Schuyler and Lovejoy drops out because of a loss to Gieck.
120
- Cole Welte, Omaha Skutt
- Jack Glendy, Columbus Lakeview
- Greg Klucas, Waverly
- Talon Belding, Beatrice
- Dylan Lovejoy, Central City
- Liam Moline, Mount Michael
Gamino drops out because we have not seen him since before Christmas and assuming he is out for the season. Erickson drops out after splitting with McCrery and that moves Lovejoy and Moline up.
126
- Ben Ziola, Omaha Skutt
- Luke Farmen, Lincoln Christian
- Cole Karlin, Beatrice
- Logan Svoboda, Aurora
- Brody Schmitt, Ralston
- Trindyn Degodt, Hastings
No changes here.
132
- Daylen Naylor, Lexington
- Odin Anschutz, Plattsmouth
- Devin Nuttelman, York
- James Ferguson, Elkhorn North
- Brayton Holding, DC West
- Karsten Hohm, Aurora
No real changes here.
138
- Hudson Loges, Blair
- Brodee Scobee, Bennington
- Trev Greve, Waverly
- Gatlin Krepela, Omaha Skutt
- Colt Eimermann, York
- Drake Hasbrouck, Cozad
No changes here either.
144
- Brayden Canoyer, Waverly
- Tristan Campbell, McCook
- Brayden Kreikemeier, Bennington
- Isaac Christo, Omaha Skutt
- Allen Diaz, Lexington
- Isaiah Murillo, Gering
This one seemed to be sorting itself out then the Higgins Invitational happened. Kreikemeier beat Christo and Diaz at Schuyler. Then at the Higgins Diaz beat both Campbell and Kreikemeier with throws when both had a small lead. Tough to sort out and that is why we wrestle the state tournament and don’t award medals based on rankings. I will keep this this way for now based on the total body of work but keep an eye out for Diaz down the road.
150
- Tyler Harrill, Omaha Skutt
- Aaron Wilson, Cozad
- Grady Meyer, Wahoo
- Bryce Kunz, Central City
- Caleb Jackson, Seward
- Grant Maas, Wayne
This is a loaded weight with several people trying to get away from Lauridsen. Kunz drops down from 157 but doesn’t seem to help his ranking and comes in at #4. That pushes the others down one. Morales drops out since we have not seen him since before Christmas. Maas comes in at #6 in that loaded B-2 district that has 4 guys in the top 6 here plus a couple of other contenders. Someone really good will stay home from that district.
157
- Kyler Lauridsen, Bennington
- Niko Rotella, Omaha Skutt
- Emmitt Dirks, York
- Christopher Shannon, Schuyler
- Brenden Ging, Plattsmouth
- Carsen Malcolm, Waverly
Lauridsen is the clear leader of this weight class. Rotella and Dirks seem to be the next two. However, we need to keep an eye on Dirks injury situation. After that it is wide open. Ging has wrestled lately up at 165 so that may be interesting for the future especially since this weigh class is so thin.
165
- Riley Johnson, Omaha Skutt
- Brock Malcom, Cozad
- Cesar Cano, Lexington
- Noah Bordovsky, Wahoo
- Zech Roggasch, Sidney
- Konrad Kuzelka, Fairbury
Roggasch makes the drop down to here and comes in at #5 which moves the others below down one. The top 4 remain the same.
175
- Merrick Johnson, Beatrice
- Brooks Loosvelt, York
- Ty Bouaphakeo, Bennington
- Rece Knight, Gering
- Caden Smart, Wahoo
- Anthony Cortijo, Ralston
Loosvelt and Johnson have split this season. Both close matches. I give Loosvelt the slightest of edges because of the most recent win. Bouaphakeo is back. Looked like he was done for the season but is now back. If he can kick off some rust, he should be solid here and possibly give the top 2 a run.
190
- Blaise Baughman, Blair
- Patrick McCartney, Sidney
- Caden Schadwinkel, Seward
- Eric Hall, Norris
- Joe Andreasen, Lincoln Pius X
- Dalton Rhoten, Bennington
Slight change here, McCartney looked really good at the Higgins and moves up to #2 with the others sliding down slightly. This weight class could be very interesting top to bottom of the standings.
215
- Cade Ziola, Omaha Skutt
- Logan Rowell, Auburn
- Cayson Schlotfeld, Gretna
- Rylan Schoenbeck, Norris
- Cayson Boltjes, Sidney
- Max Leininger, Waverly
We have Ziola and then everyone else. This weight is very unpredictable from #2 through about #10. Anyone of those guys can draw the short straw to get Ziola in the finals.
285
- Keagyn Linden, York
- Owen Rowell, Auburn
- Carver Konzem, Ashland Greenwood
- Wes Vick, Plattsmouth
- Spencer Steinbeck, McCook
- Daylon Adams, Scottsbluff
No changes here with the big boys.
